The 43rd National Convention of Kiwanis International has opened in Messina. The official inauguration will take place on Friday 9 at the Palacultura Antonello, where the American, European, San Marino and Italian anthems will mark the start of the proceedings in the presence of leading Kiwanis representatives from the international, European and Italian levels.

Among them will be Maura Magni, Chairwoman of BMV and Governor of the Italy-San Marino District for 2019/20 and 2020/21.

At the close of the Convention, the new Governor of the Italy-San Marino District for the 2022–2023 social year will be elected.

Kiwanis International is a global organisation of volunteers committed to improving the world, one child and one community at a time. Its mission is expressed through the motto: “Serving the Children of the World.”

Kiwanis is active in 82 countries and geographic areas, with more than 16,000 clubs. Together with its youth programmes — K-Kids, Builders Club, Key Club, CKI and Aktion Club — Kiwanis brings together more than 550,000 members, creating a global network of talents, skills and experience.

Each year, the Kiwanis family contributes more than 18.5 million hours of volunteer work and invests more than USD 107 million in communities around the world. Kiwanis clubs usually sponsor more than 150,000 projects for children worldwide every year. Service is therefore at the heart of every Kiwanis International club, wherever it operates.

Devoting time and energy to serving children, knowing that even one hour and one small gesture can change their lives, also means helping to change the world.
