Silvano Mazzantini

Born in Rome in 1974, He is an administrative lawer. He graduated in Law at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" with specific expertise in administrative law and public contracts, in this context he has assisted government, local authorities, public and private companies on public contracts both in court, and out of court. It conducts his professional activity before the judicaladministrative bodies, and the courts in proceedings concerning responsibility for damage to tax authorities before the Court of Auditors. Nicolò Ghibellini

Nicolò Ghibellini (1974) holds a Master degree in Law from the University of Ferrara. He provides legal consultancy on company contractual practice, industrial and intellectual property rights, and law for new technologies. With particular attention to this last field of competence, Nicolò widely supports enterprises interested in developing their activities on web, including legal framework related with ecommerce, online brand security and privacy in general. Chiara Gaido -Of Counsel

Chiara Gaido is an Italian attorney, whose practice is focused on Intellectual Property Law. She graduated from the Università degli Studi di Milano in 2006 (J.D.) with a final grade of 110/110 and then she earned two Master Degrees in Intellectual Property (LL.M.): the first organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the second with Cardozo Law School, New York. Before joining the firm, she gained experience by working in law firms in Italy and in New York where she assisted clients in protecting their trademarks, copyright and design as well as by helping clients with some specific corporate and real estate issues. The Attorney Renato Vico, specialized in the civil law since his enrollment in the Italian Attorneys' Register dated 1989, while since 2003 he is special member of the Advocacy in front of the Italian Court of Appeal and the other superior jurisdictions. The long experience gained in civil law and the many activities also related to international law culminated with the verdict – adopted on the basis of the appeal presented by Vico himself – with which the European Court of Human Rights of Strasbourg for the first time recognized the right to the reasonable length of the process even in the bankruptcy proceedings (case Ceteroni vs. Italia), has been followed by the reception of many other complaint for equal compensation both in the European Court and in front of the Italian National Court of Appeal and of the Supreme Court.

He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990, and earned a Master in Business Administration from Boston College's Carroll School of Management in 1995. He then moved to the University of Milan, Institute for Pharmacological Sciences, working with Prof. Elena Cattaneo on signal transduction of interleukins in brain development. He was Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California Irvine, where he worked with Prof. Ralph A. Bradshaw working on different aspects of signal transduction. Claudio co-founded VetBioPharma S.r.l., a start-up company focused on the development of new biotherapeutics for companion animals. He also worked as a consultant for the Biotechnology Transfer Office at the San Raffaele Biomedical Science Park. Claudio is now Biotech Consultant for a New York-based investment bank and is partner of La Jolla-based mPark LLC. Giovanni Gaudino

Giovanni Gaudino, PhD is Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Hawai'i Cancer Center in Honolulu, USA. He received his doctoral training at the University of Torino, Italy and his post-doctoral training at NIEHS (National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences) at Research Triangle Park, NC, USA (1983-1984). He has been Associate Professor at the University of Torino (1984 – 1993) and Full Professor at the University of Piemonte orientale "A. Avogadro", Novara, Italy (1993 – 2009) and has been Visiting Scientist in several research institutions; among others: Tufts Physiology, Boston, MA (1988), Vollum Institute, Portland OR (1990) and Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel (2002). Giovanni Gaudino served as Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Piemonte orientale "A. Avogadro" (1998 -2001) and as Dean of the School of Biotechnology at the same University (2002 – 2009). His research focused since 1984 on the mechanisms of signal transduction mediated by oncogene products. In particular he contributed to the identification of new ligands and receptors, developing an established experience on transformation and tumorigenesis mediated by tyrosine kinase receptors. Among a number of achievements are: the demonstration that cellular oncogenes are involved in SV40-mediated mesothelial transformation (2001-2002), the identification of intracellular constitutively active molecules driving to mesothelioma development after exposure to asbestos fibers (2005-2008), the diagnostic and prognostic significance for microRNA in mesothelioma (2010). All these discoveries, prompted for the development of novel specific drugs for mesothelioma therapy. More recently, at the University of Hawai'i Cancer Center, he contributed to the discovery of a new syndrome (2011–present), caused by germline mutations of BAP1 gene, characterized by the development of mesothelioma, uveal melanoma, atypical melanocytic tumors and other cancers (discovery published on Nature Genetics and Nature Review on Cancer). He received research funds from AIRC (Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro), from the US foundation MARF (Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation), from European Union, among others, and is co-investigator on NIH-funded projects in the area of mesothelioma carcinogenesis.

Marco Tausel

He studied in USA and Italy, graduating in 1984 at the Polytechnic of Milano in Electronic Engineering. He has been involved in electronics since early '70s, teacher and consultant between 1977 and 1982, in computer vision, automation and robotics since early '80s. He then founded and managed different high tech Companies starting with Microsystems Srl and MATE Srl in 1985, cooperating with European and American companies in fields like high performance UNIX computers, computer vision, robotics, distributed I/O systems and SCADA solutions. Since then has been involved in hundreds of projects for many different applications, and he made more than 40 research projects on various topics in Italy and EU. Since 2008 cooperated with Prof. Eugenio Castelli in teaching the course of Computer Vision at the Polytechnic of Milano, becoming in 2010 Contract Professor for the course in Computer Vision. He has been teaching Computer Vision until 2012.
